batgirltim:

hey: reminder that bisexuality is not just ‘being willing to fuck anyone’. i keep seeing stuff like this lately in fic & headcanons and i don’t care if it’s being said in a fond way, or by a character and not directly by the writer, or if you yourself are bi– if it’s being said somewhere that’s not solely by and for bi people as a joke amongst ourselves, it’s super inappropriate. bisexuality is not saying yes to anyone who asks, or being obsessed with the attractiveness of every single person. do we feel that way sometimes? sure! but they’re also incredibly harmful stereotypes. biphobic stereotypes resulted in my parents, who thought themselves very progressive and gay-friendly, that bisexuality was a fake identity for sluts when i was literally only twelve years old. casual comments or jokes about bisexuality being all about sex, especially when they’re made about teenage characters, are still gross and harmful even if you think you’re not biphobic. cut it out.
